Honoring the Best of Merit Shop Construction
Each year, ABC names an exceptional individual or company in the merit shop construction industry as its Contractor of the Year. In 2015, David Allen Company, Raleigh N.C., won this distinction thanks to its leadership in training, behavior-based safety, prefabrication and lean processes, as well as its commitment to ABC and the merit shop philosophy.

Congratulations to the 26th Annual Excellence in Construction® Award Winners
The Excellence in Construction® Awards celebration honors the nation's most innovative and high quality construction projects, safety programs and diversity programs. Awards were presented March 2, 2016 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During the awards program, just over 100 member companies from across the country were presented with awards for Excellence in Construction, Contractor of the year, Safety, and Diversity. Award winners celebrated at a black tie optional dinner followed by an exclusive after party.
Collaborate with Construction Executives and Improve Your Business
For merit shop business executives, ABC’s Peer Groups help advance the success and profitability of their companies. Groups consist of six to 10 non-competing companies within a trade interest area and with similar annual revenues that share ideas with like-minded business owners to help improve their businesses.
ABC Leadership Week Expands Your Skills
ABC’s Leadership Week helps ABC members become the best leaders they can be. Contractors at all stages of their careers will find opportunities to learn during the week’s events, including: the ABC Leadership Institute, a career fair, the Construction Management Competition, the Legal Conference, the Peer Group Conference, and the Young Professionals Leadership Development Track.
ABC Cares projects in 2015 included collecting cell phones for soldiers, putting on a car show in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, renovating the home of a paralyzed college football player, having apprentices fix up a local women’s shelter, and building a memorial for Texas veterans and a treehouse for a Make-a Wish Foundation child. ABC Keystone Chapter’s young professionals group held its first Bowl-a-Thon and raised $6,000 for the Leg Up Farm, a nonprofit therapy center in York County, Pa., that helps children with disabilities and developmental delays.
